Happy
After Japan got into the last 16, even the supermarket was smiling.

G-Land
Yoyogi Koen again, this time something called the "Peaceful New Earth Celebration"... man.
During breaks in the music, while serious journalists were on stage discussing things like Gaza, Iraq and America-Japan relations he'd just lay down, cover up under a blanket and go to sleep, but as soon as the music started up again... he was gone man... solid gone!

Melons
Tokyo’s always been an expensive place to live, but these days there’s not a lot of difference to any other big city… with one major exception.
These melons are intended as expensive gifts and come in their own presentation boxes, but this one is the most expensive I’ve seen so far at a whopping 21,000 yen.
At current exchange rates that’s about A$265, £155 or US$235. Now I like a melon once in a while, but bloody hell…
To persuade you to part with your hard-earned, they’ve got this picture of the prize-winning farmer and his wife, who are apparently well known for high quality melons.

Takeharu Kunimoto 国本武春
This Hendrix flashback in the ROCK section reminded me of Takeharu Kunimoto on shamisen and CHAR on guitar doing Purple Haze J-Stylie recently, but this link of him jamming with Buddy Guy 15 years ago is better.

Record Shop
Atlanta has some great names for record shops, like the now defunct "More Dusty Than Digital", and "Criminal Records", but this one's up there too
It probably helps that it's in the same building as a bar called "Nuts" and another bar called, "The Brown Spot".
